I look at the date of my last post and am floored at how long it has been since I’ve last posted. What’s even worse than that is it’s been just about that long since I’ve peaked in on my blog friends to see what they have been up to.
I really wish I had a good reason. I know it’s been because I’ve been really busy, but I rack my brain on what has made me so busy on come up empty handed. I know it hasn’t been that I’ve been scrapbooking. The last time I did that was at CKC. No major reorganizing cleaning projects have happened. Just generally been crazy busy.
My Mom did come from California to visit us for a week. We took up to the Clubhouse for dinner one night, to Smokehouse (because you have to eat BBQ in KC) another night, she went with me to take Erica to dance class one day, took Ally to horseback riding lessons, went to the Pumpkin Patch, and painted pottery. She really seemed to enjoy spending time with the girls. And it was nice having here.
Here are some shots from the Pumpkin Patch. It was such a nice day out and my camera really seems to like taking pictures on those nicer days. Plus I just love all of those fun fall colors.

In the picture above this is my Mom, Erica and Ally as we headed out to the patch.
I thought this was a fun action shot of Ally:

A cute one of Jackie:

I think Erica has totally gotten the posing for the camera thing down now:

These poor girls. I kind of felt sorry for them as I heard their Mom telling them to “Work It”. Hey whatever it takes.

So the pumpkin patch was pretty sparse by the time we got there, so we had to set the shot up ourselves. Who wants a picture with just one pumpkin in the background. So we spent about 5 minutes gathering nice pumpkins for the next two pictures. Actually there are a whole series of pictures from the first one to the last one, and really wish I was patient enough to set up the whole progression, but my Internet is running so painfully slow and let’s face it, when it comes to updating my blog patience is so not one of my strong points.

And of course you can’t pass those wooden signs with head cutouts without taking a picture…

I’m really excited about Halloween this year. I’d have to say that and Christmas are probably my favorite holidays of the year. I think it’s because it’s an excuse to let the kid in me out. So we decorated the yard this year. Our plan before the pumpkin patch was to by those fake carveable pumpkins, carve those and just add to the collection every year. Then we went out to the patch with wheelbarrows for pictures and could not leave without buying a pumpkin for each person. And actually upon placing them out in the yard I realized we somehow ended up with 6!
I got Eric to agree to buying them by promising him I would be the one to gut them all out. As avoiding the messiness of pumpkin gutting is why we weren’t going to buy pumpkins to begin with. So my goal is to get those all gutted by dinner time so then after dinner we can carve them.
Last night was Trunk or Treat at church. It was tons of fun. I didn’t go all out on decorating as I just ran out of time, so I threw the fake pumpkins that Ally, Erica and I had carved different Disney Princess things in along with flashing lights and set those up in the back of the vehicle. We got lots of compliments though. Wish I had thought to take a picture of it. Seems to be a lot of that kind of wishing lately. Which reminds me I really need to throw the small camera back in my purse.
I missed another photo opp this morning too. Erica (and her another classmates) were allowed to dress up in their Halloween costumes for dance class today. Another Mom told me though that she would give me a copy of the group picture. So I felt much better.
It’s been a great year for the girls getting to wear their costumes more than once. Thank goodness. I always have such a problem with paying so much money for something that is only going to be worn once. They got to wear it to the Clubhouse the other night for the Halloween party, last night at church, Erica today to dance, Friday at school and then Halloween night! Good thing I picked out such a stinking cute costume for Erica… Pirate Princess! And how lucky is it that I already have scrapbooking paper to go with it?! Ally’s costume changes daily. It’s actually a Mobster costume, pink and black pinstripe suit. But she said it would work as a bodyguard costume. Then last night she told everyone she was a successful business person. I guess that’s what you could call a mobster.
Jackie is a Medieval Queen. I almost thought I was going to get away with a color theme of pink and black. Oh well. Two out of three isn’t bad.
So this is part of why I tend to not blog as much. Because when I do, I go on and on. Actually I have to be fair and say that I hardly even turn on my computer anymore. Such a shocker. Which really makes me wonder what exactly I am doing with my time! Okay, if I’m going to get those pumpkins gutted I really better get off the computer. I’d like to say this is the beginning of keeping on track with my blogging, but I’m not too sure about the likelihood of that.
